“From petals to resins, from sea breezes to precious woods, each fragrance we create pays homage to our botanical heritage while infusing it with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.”
Constance and Marguerite de Monravel

An independent house,
rooted in longevity
Maison Monravel draws its inspiration from the legacy of Louis de Montravel, a visionary 19th-century botanist.
A great traveler with a deep love of nature, he devoted his life to rare and medicinal plants, sensing in them both healing power and captivating beauty.
In the spirit of his avant-garde vision, Constance and Marguerite de Monravel founded Maison Monravel. An entrepreneur and passionate traveler, and a pharmacist fascinated by the olfactory world of plants, the two founders journey across the globe in search of rare, precious, and confidential essences.
From their discoveries are born unique compositions: true scented remedies, where olfactory emotion meets the ancestral virtues of plants.
A discerning, sensitive, and enduring vision.
Independent and family-owned, Maison Monravel embodies a profound commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and meaning. From the finest raw materials to the subtlety of the artisan’s hand, every detail is carefully considered to bring beauty, elegance, and authenticity — in harmony with nature and life itself.

EXCEPTIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP
Each jar is crafted in Tuscany by master glassmakers with centuries-old expertise. Designed to be reused endlessly, they embody a sustainable art of living, where the act of refilling becomes a ritual of transmission.

NATURAL RAW MATERIALS
Composed of more than 75% ingredients of natural origin, our candles reveal the living richness of essences. Our 100% plant-based wax, derived from rapeseed flowers and poured in France, is free of paraffin for a pure burn.

HERBALIST SAVOIR-FAIRE
Drawing on the botanical archives of Louis de Montravel, guided by Marguerite’s pharmacist’s eye, and enriched by the expertise of a perfumer-aromacologist, our creations embody the art of healing through fragrance.

A botanical heritage
Antoine-Jean-Louis de Montravel was born in 1823 in Joyeuse, at the heart of the Vivarais region. Educated in Paris, Lyon, and Grenoble, he developed a lifelong passion for botany, natural history, and literature. A learned botanist, he assembled over his travels a remarkable herbarium, driven by his fascination with rare and medicinal plants.
A member of the Société savante d’histoire naturelle de Lyon, the Société nationale de protection de la nature, and the Société des sciences et belles-lettres de l’Ardèche, he dedicated his life to the study and preservation of plant species. The vicomte passed away in 1909, leaving behind archives, herbaria, and writings that still testify to his visionary outlook on the living world.
